Location & Transportation
Hazlehurst is in the heart of historic Southeast Georgia at the juncture of U.S. Highways 221 and 341—also known as the Golden Isles Highway—and both easily connect our small town with larger cities of Brunswick to the south, Savannah to the east, Augusta to the northeast, Atlanta and Macon to the north, and Columbus and Albany to the west. Interstate 16, which seamlessly melds Savannah to Macon, and Interstates 75 and 95 are all within a 90-minute drive. Just north of Hazlehurst, traipsing along the Jeff Davis County line, the Ocmulgee and Oconee Rivers converge to form the Altamaha, one of Georgia’s mightiest, and so pristine and important that The Nature Conservancy deemed it one of its “75 Last Great Places” in the world.
Fancy a trip by air or rail than by car? Hazlehurst is within a two- to three-hour drive of Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport and Jacksonville International Airport with nonstop service to several major domestic airports. Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, about a three-hour drive, offers nonstop service to five of the seven continents including Europe, Africa, Asia, North America, and South America, and connecting service to Australia and Antarctica. Passenger rail service with Amtrak is available in Savannah or an hour’s drive away at Jesup.
