About the Department
The Hazlehurst Police Department, under the leadership of Chief James Mock, is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. Chief Mock has served as Chief of Police since July 2023, guiding the department with professionalism, accountability, and dedication to service.
Our officers respond to calls for service, enforce state laws and city ordinances, investigate crimes, protect lives and property, and maintain public order. We are dedicated to serving the citizens of Hazlehurst with integrity, fairness, and respect—upholding the laws of the State of Georgia, the City of Hazlehurst, and the Constitution of the United States.
Our Mission
The mission of the Hazlehurst Police Department is to provide a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for residents, businesses, and visitors. We strive to foster trust and cooperation through community engagement, transparency, and responsive law enforcement services.
Leadership and Appointment
The Chief of Police is appointed by the Hazlehurst City Council and serves under its direction, in accordance with the city charter and applicable state law.
